19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former coach his previous coach.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since March of 2023.

Victory also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

The player's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early break points in a tight final set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
